COOL IS A LABEL THAT SAYS YOU AND NOT EVERYBODY ELSE.
Influenced by California Pop artists, this work is where AOMIII started to criticize and explore fashion, advertising, sexuality, masculinity, society, and stereotypes. He began to reference and appropriate images of young attractive models in striking and sometimes sensually defiant poses. Arthur then omitted the models' original atmospheres and superimposed them on top of backdrops that seemed like a faded memory to them. His aim was to show how the background environment, reality to many viewers, seems dull by comparison to what the models offer - youth, desirability by others, and fame.
